STUDIO WALL —
or Recent Mistakes
or Recent Disappointments …
July 17 – August 9
Paula Kane presents paintings of fantastical landscapes. The works quote a range of sources, from the history of painting to more contemporary and popular sources. Through this cherry picking of material she investigates the multiple languages and fictions found within representational painting. The landscapes draw on themes of the imaginary, the picturesque, cultural tourism and her own idiosyncratic relationship with visual history.
In addition she is showing ‘Studio Wall’, an installation comprising drawings, painted studies, photographs and postcards. This work reveals a different approach that is more about uncertainty and her misunderstandings of the landscape.
